Concrete Repairs

Concrete Repair Specialists

We remove and repair defective concrete without compromising existing healthy concrete using Hydrodemolition.
Discuss your project
Concrete repair involves restoring and rehabilitating damaged or deteriorated concrete structures. This process can include patching cracks, resurfacing worn areas, reinforcing weakened sections, and applying protective coatings to prevent future damage.

As concrete repair specialists, we protect the integrity of your concrete structure by repairing concrete cancer or other cracks that have appeared before the damage gets any worse.

We prevent the spread of concrete deterioration by blasting away any damaged concrete with a technique known as hydrodemolition. This technique involves the use of a 2,800-bar pressurised water jet.

Afterward there is an area of sound concrete is left, making an excellent bonding surface for new concrete applications without damaging existing concrete or reinforcements.

No matter how difficult the location of the damaged concrete is, we know how to complete the work safely and efficiently using either the traditional hand-lancing method or, in more hazardous locations, robotic hydrodemolition to remove deteriorated concrete.

Our concrete repair specialists will finish the repair by spraying replacement concrete (guniting) onto the area from which we removed the damaged concrete. We understand how concrete works, so we will put the measures in place to protect, strengthen and extend the lifespan of your concrete structure.

Unlike traditional concrete removal techniques, our concrete repair process involves no harmful chemicals, just water, meaning far less dust is created. We also use a Siltbuster HD pH adjustment system to treat the water after we repair the concrete to bring the pH levels back to 7 and avoid site contamination.

The outcome is a concrete repair process that is not only safe but also environmentally friendly.

Causes of Concrete Damage

Over the last 20 years, we’ve seen many reasons why concrete becomes damaged. They typically fall into one of the following categories.

Spalling

Spalling, also known as concrete cancer, is the term used to describe cracked concrete. Spalling can happen for a number of reasons, including poor concrete installation, unforgiving weather conditions, and a build-up of moisture that causes the concrete to weaken over time and crack.

High Temperatures

Concrete can be damaged when exposed to high temperatures. This happens when the temperature below the concrete surface begins to get too hot, resulting in cracking, which typically occurs when the concrete is exposed to fire.

Corrosion of Reinforcements

Damaged concrete left untreated will result in the corrosion of embedded reinforcements, leaving concrete structures extremely unstable. This typically occurs when cracks are left unchecked and are regularly exposed to rainwater or seawater.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What is concrete cancer?

Concrete cancer, also known as spalling, typically occurs when moisture seeps into the concrete, causing it to expand and crack.

  • What applications can we repair?

Typically, we repair damaged concrete on bridges, marine structures and buildings. However, if our expertise matches your concrete problem, we are more than willing to help.

  • How do we repair concrete?

Typically we will remove any damaged concrete using a technique called hydrodemolition. We will then replace any damaged rebar and finish the repair by spraying replacement concrete, known as guniting, onto the area in which it was damaged.
