The Call for Proposals closed January 10, 2024 at 5PM ET.
The APA 2024 CE Workshop Call for Proposals is closed. Applicants will be notified via email by mid-March with the Continuing Education Committee’s decisions.
We hope to see you in Seattle for APA 2024! Registration will open in April.
The APA Continuing Education Committee (CEC) and the Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP) seek CE Workshop proposals that represent the lifelong learning needs of the APA membership. The APA CEC and the CEP will offer half-day (4 hours) and full-day (7 hours) in-person workshops on a range of topics to be held during APA 2024 in Seattle, WA, August 7-10. We seek new and innovative proposals each year that emphasize active engagement of participants and facilitate the translation of new knowledge and skills into professional practices and services. We encourage you to share your expertise with colleagues at these highly attended events—all topics are welcome.
The CEC seeks proposals that:
Continuing education in psychology builds upon a completed doctoral program in psychology. It is not a substitute for the basic academic education and training needed for entry to the field of psychology, nor should it be the primary vehicle for career changes from one APA-recognized specialty area (e.g., clinical, counseling, school psychology) to another.
The CEC is committed to gender and ethnic diversity representation among workshop presenters, and all proposals should address these issues in the content and format of the workshop.
Submitters must demonstrate that the workshop fits the definition of “CE in Psychology” and meets the
Standards and Criteria for Approval of Sponsors of Continuing Education for Psychologists (August 2015).
As a presenter, you have the opportunity to:
CE Workshop proposals closed on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
All proposals must be submitted through the online CE Workshop proposal form. Online instructions and examples are provided to guide you through the process.
Note: Each workshop proposal can have a maximum of five presenters (one primary presenter and up to four co-presenters). Each presenter must complete the Instructor Qualifications, which includes educational background, professional licensure status, publications, teaching experience, and previous professional positions.
We recommend that you prepare the following materials before you fill out the online proposal form:
The proposal does not have to be completed in one sitting (i.e., you may start, save, and return to it later). Review your proposal thoroughly before final submission. Upon final submission, you will receive a confirmation email. You may edit the submission up until the proposal deadline.
The proposal process is a competitive one; we receive an average of 250 proposals each year. The Continuing Education Committee selects workshops based on several factors (refer to CE Committee Rating System; demonstration of adherence to the APA CE Standards is required). Applicants will be notified in mid-March with the Continuing Education Committee’s decision.
Accepted workshop proposals will be scheduled Wednesday, August 7, through Saturday, August 10, 2024. Presenters
must be available to present their workshop in-person in Seattle, WA on
any given day.
Note: Some APA divisions offer preconvention CE workshops. These divisional workshops are separate from the CE Workshops offered by the CEP Office and the CEC.
