Biography
Amar Patel, M.D. is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, who specializes in foot & ankle and trauma surgery.

For Dr. Patel, the decision to become an orthopedic surgeon was an easy one. Orthopedic surgery is an amazing combination of biomechanics and anatomy, mixed with each patient’s individual attributes. This combination makes every patient’s case truly individual and unique. Orthopaedic surgery allows a physician to work with both their hands and their mind. He enjoys treating patients with orthopedic traumatic injuries, as well as patients with foot and ankle conditions. Both of these specialties require the ability of the clinician to treat patients, keeping short and long-term goals in mind. Both subsets affect a wide range of age groups and challenge him to choose the best option available for each patient. Foot and ankle surgery, in particular, encompasses pediatric and adult pathology in areas of deformity reconstruction, trauma and sports medicine. Dr. Patel loves meeting people, listening to their medical issues and using operative and non-operative methods to improve their quality of life. His free time is dedicated to spending time with his wife and two children. As a family, they enjoy traveling, bike riding, soccer games, piano recitals, school activities and attending the children’s dance competitions.

Dr. Patel received his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University. After obtaining his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Brown University. His fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma was completed at Brown University, where he was Junior Attending, and his fellowship in Foot & Ankle Reconstruction was completed at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Patel has authored numerous scientific research articles and has presented his research at both regional and national academic conferences.

He is an active member of AAOS-American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, MSOA – Missouri State Orthopaedic Association, MSMA – Missouri State Medical Association, AOFAS – American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and the AMA – American Medical Association.

Dr. Patel is an active reviewer for orthopaedic and academic publications, including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery as well as Foot & Ankle International.
