Michael Hellman, M.D. M.D. is a Fellowship trained Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, as well as hip preservation surgery.

He prioritizes developing an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to the goals and expectations of each patient he cares for. His practice includes muscle sparing anterior hip replacement, minimally invasive total knee and partial knee replacement, hip resurfacing, revision total hip and total knee replacement, hip arthroscopy, open hip surgery, and periacetabular osteotomy.

Dr. Hellman received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem and a Medical Doctorate from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After medical school he completed his Orthopedic Residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. At Rush he trained with experts in hip and knee arthroplasty as well as hip arthroscopy. He then received advanced training in joint preservation, resurfacing, and reconstructive surgery through a Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. At Washington University he learned to provide comprehensive hip care to patients of all ages from leaders in the field of hip preservation.

Dr. Hellman has research interests focusing on complex disorders of the hip and knee. He has published over 50 research articles and book chapters and has presented over 40 abstracts at national and international conferences. His belief is that a strong foundation in evidence-based medicine is the optimal way to provide the highest quality of care to every patient.

When not at work, Dr. Hellman enjoys traveling, hiking, camping and skiing. He looks forward to meeting you and providing the highest quality care in a personalized setting.

Dr. Hellman is an active member of AAOS-American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and AAHKS-American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
