Biography
Megan Mayer, M.D. is a fellowship trained board ceritfied orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopic procedures as well as Sports Medicine, employing the most current treatment techniques to alleviate pain and restore function and an active lifestyle for her patients.

Dr. Mayer received her medical doctorate, graduating with honors from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Kansas City, MO. She completed residency in 2017 in orthopaedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. She has also completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Methodist Sports Medicine affiliated with Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition, she has acquired specialized training in hip arthroscopy at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Mayer is excited to be returning to her hometown roots as she is a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School. As a student athlete, she is familiar with sports injuries as she sustained an injury while in college and was treated by our own Dr. Gerald Dugan in 2004. After a period of rehabilitation, she was able to return to participating in sports. She understands the student athlete and says “I naturally just enjoy working with the athletic population in general. ” In a sense, Dr. Mayer has come full circle in her career and is excited about the opportunity to help patients continue to enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle.

She is an active member of AAOS-American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Mayer has authored numerous scientific research articles and has presented his research at both regional and national academic conferences.

She is an active member of AAOS-American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, MSOA – Missouri State Orthopaedic Association, Missouri State Medical Association and Southern Orthopaedic Association.
