What Happens In Freshers Week?

We're sure you've heard stories about how wild and messy Freshers Week can be. Whatever you've been told, imagine that times 10! It's an amazing, legendary week where you'll have forgetful nights but some lifelong memories.

But there's a bit more to it than eat, sleep, rave, repeat.

Each individual university will host workshops, activities, and taster sessions to show you what uni life will be like. You'll meet your accommodation neighbours, people on your course, life-long uni friends and if you're lucky some of you might even meet the love of your life... you never know!

Bars, nightclubs and restaurants around the university and in the local area will also hold freshers events and offer exclusive discounts, but we'll keep you updated on those!

All work can be done from home and you can set your own hours. All you need is a smartphone/computer and an internet connection and you're all set!

How Much Money Do I Need For Freshers Week?

Ah, money. Most things in life come down to how much money we have in our accounts - it sucks, but it's true. So learning how to manage your money is essential.

When that sweet student finance loan hits your account for the first time, it's a rollercoaster of emotions. Some of you will have never seen a number that big in your account before and might be tempted to go a bit crazy. We wouldn't blame you. But DON'T FALL INTO THAT TRAP!

Most freshers spend all their money in the first few weeks, forgetting that they don't get another loan for a couple of months, leaving them broke and eating 80p pot noodles for weeks on end.

Don't be
that person.

Freshers Week is created to be cheap for you newbies, so don't spend above your means. Trust us, you'll regret it.

Your uni or freshers event should provide you with a wristband that gives you access to all the venues and parties around town. The ones doing a freshers party, that is.

These wristbands usually start at £15 and can save you a lot of money in the long run! The more expensive the band costs (generally speaking), the more perks - we’re talking VIP access, drinks, and more.

Top Tip: These wristbands will sell quickly and become more expensive as time goes on - even selling out. But if you sign up to The Freshers Guide, we’ll hook you up!

Freshers Week For Non-Drinkers

A large portion of student culture may appear to revolve around drinking and partying, but there are actually tons of things to do alcohol-free.

One of the best ways to enjoy freshers and meet like-minded people is to attend clubs and join societies - sure, they might hold a social or two, but there will also be tons of events that don’t require drinking, whether it’s drawing, baking, hiking or anything else in between!

Our advice? Head to your Freshers Fair and talk to existing society members. Get the low-down on the culture of the society and get a feel for whether it suits you and your lifestyle!
