Empowering Small and Medium Businesses
CanadianSME Business Magazine was created through the passion and admiration for entrepreneurs. With SMEs playing such a crucial role in Canada’s business industry and contributing greatly to the economy, CanadianSME was built to provide a much-needed support system for hard-working business owners.
CanadianSME signifies the empowerment of Canadian SMEs and aims to pursue this mission with the launch of CanadianSME Business Magazine to equip SMEs with expert knowledge and insights from industry leaders. CanadianSME business magazine incorporates compelling content and provides shelter to the business needs of small and medium scale enterprises.
As of December 2018, there were 1.2 million employer businesses in Canada (Table 1). Of these, 1.18 million (97.9 percent) were small businesses, 22,266 (1.9 percent) were medium-sized businesses and 3,010 (0.2 percent) were large businesses.
More than half of Canada's small employer businesses are concentrated in Ontario and Quebec (429,852 and 243,029, respectively). Western Canada has a large number of small businesses, led by British Columbia, which had 184,075 small businesses as of December 2018. In the Atlantic region, Nova Scotia has the most small businesses at 29,345.
The province with the most businesses per thousand individuals aged 18 and over is Prince Edward Island (50.6), followed by Alberta (49.2). In contrast, Quebec has the smallest number of businesses per thousand individuals aged 18 and over (36.4), followed by Nova Scotia (37.7), Manitoba (37.9) and Ontario (38.0).
Currently, there’s a lack of growth concerning small and medium-sized businesses in Canada. SMEs are at a standstill although new businesses are opening every year. The majority of those businesses struggle and fail within the first five years. Canadian SME Magazine is aware of this struggle that SMEs face and has, therefore, we have made it its primary goal to work towards the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in Canada. We do this by providing the necessary tools and beneficial knowledge of the latest trends in marketing, finance, accounting and several other areas. Canadian SME Magazine Business magazine aims to help businesses by making it easy and accessible for them to have access and connect with top experts and business leaders in the field through magazine articles, social media posts, and business events.
The creation of job opportunities has a significant impact on the economy, which is why the second goal of Canadian SME Magazine is to create more job opportunities that revolve around the small and medium-sized business in Canada. We do this by encouraging SMEs to explore new options and connecting them with industry leaders through the Canadian SME Magazine platform. Our platform will introduce them to further opportunities they never thought possible through collaborations and partnerships.
Staying innovative is one of the keys to success for any business. Moreover, Canadian SME has made its third goal to encourage innovation within the small and medium business enterprises. We do this by providing them with expert knowledge through our platform on the latest trends in technology to look out for. Being innovative is what differentiates a successful business from one that fails within the first five years. Canadian SME Magazine will make sure businesses have the right knowledge and tools to leverage innovation by conducting business events with a strong focus on innovation and technology.

We really enjoyed taking part in the CanadianSME Awards. The evening itself was a great opportunity to spend time with members of the team, be inspired by other entrepreneurs and be recognized with an award.
I am still young and on my path to success. I flew home to Regina Saskatchewan with a new invigorated passion for entrepreneurship. Focusing on my triple net ROI. Thanks for an inspiring evening.
