about the experience
I aim to provide a truly extraordinary newborn experience for every client from the time you book your session to the final delivery of your products. Prior to your session we will chat about your style & pose preferences and I will have every set styled when you arrive at the studio. Throughout the session I do all the posing & soothing needed leaving parents free to relax and enjoy some quiet time…or maybe even sneak in a nap.
Newborn sessions are scheduled during weekdays when baby is *usually* about 4-12 days old. I do book a limited number of newborn sessions each month to ensure a timely turnaround and the best possible client experience, so I do recommend reserving your session date as soon as possible – IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY!
Like choosing a photographer for a wedding, you get just one opportunity to capture this extraordinary moment in time – the investment is priceless and I’d be honored to share this incredible moment with you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When should I schedule my session?
You’re welcome to reserve your date at any time, however I recommend booking your session once you reach the 2nd trimester. I often book up 1-2 months in advance, so please call or email before your little one arrives to guarantee a spot. A tentative session time will be reserved based upon your due date.
Why choose Rule Creative Co?
Experience. Quality. Reputation. There are many considerations beyond price to think about when choosing your newborn photographer. The art of newborn and child photography is much more than just clicking a button – it really is a fine art – which you will have a greater appreciation for after your session. From preparing the setups for the session, hours of handling your baby the day of the session, meticulous posing to ensure baby looks relaxed and comfortable, knowledge of lighting and posing to ensure mama always looks beautiful, editing the images to perfection, etc. Price is an important consideration, however, newborn sessions are hard work and usually the least expensive photographer is also the least experienced. Knowing you will LOVE your images is worth the investment!

Is one week too soon? What if I’m not feeling well yet?
No worries at all! In order to capture the true essence of a newborn, the ideal time for a newborn session is within 4-12 days. At 2+ weeks babies start to be awake more, require more soothing during a session, and aren’t as easily posed as newborns at 4-12 days. Once you arrive at the studio, I will take over. Moms are required to do very little except feed babe when needed, other than that you will be able to relax on the couch, so there is no worry if you aren’t feeling 100% – that is to be expected. If you get babe here, I’ll take care of the rest.
Should I bring a special outfit?
Most newborn images are done without clothing. We will be in touch before the session to go over everything you need to know before the session.
How long will my session last?
Sessions are tailored to the individual newborns. Plenty of time is allowed for feeding and soothing.
Can you recreate these images I found on Pinterest?
If you see an image that inspires you, I am happy to discuss what is most meaningful to you about the image and create something similar in style that you’ll love. I won’t, however, re-create a list of 10 Pinterest images.

I had a bride last week ask me if it would be weird if she didn't want to hire a makeup artist for her wedding. And I just wanted to hug her and tell her this: Your day can look like whatever the heck you want it to look like. Don't buy into the trends and feel like your day needs to be this literally perfect day that causes you so much stress (and costs you so much more than you'd want to spend). Do what fits your vision, your happiness, and your budget. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the things I've mentioned here and I 100% support any bride who chooses to do them. I just wish more couples would do what they really truly wanted to do for one of the most important days of their life.
