He and his wife Kelsi (a teacher at Davis School District) met as teenagers and grew up together in Kaysville. Despite this, they never dated until after college. They consider themselves fortunate to have reconnected during a Christmas holiday and have been inseparable ever since. They have a son and daughter and twin girls on the way. They love spending lots of time with their kids and extended family, golfing, snow skiing, watching movies, traveling, swimming, photography, and woodcarving.
