The STEP Oiltools ADVANTAGE slop water treatment system is designed to effectively treat the toughest offshore slop water from offshore drilling and production installations.
The slop water system utilises advanced flocculation technology with Sorbfloc™ chemical dosing, centrifugal separation, Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) and Activated Filter Media (AFM) to remove oil, suspended solids, heavy metals and other contaminants.
Advanced instrumentation and touch screen HMI and PLC technology control the pumps, motor, valves and monitors the entire operation maximising throughput with limited operator intervention.
Flocculation and Centrifugation - Sorbfloc™ is dosed to flocculate oil
droplets and particles. The flocculation is activated by free calcium added as CaCl2 or liberated from existing forms in water by pH elevation. The slop water is fed to the Derrick DE-1000 centrifuge and the flocculation increases the separation efficiency. The sludge from the solids discharge is conveyed to a container for disposal and the liquid effluent is pumped to the DAF unit Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) - Additional Sorbfloc™ is injected upstream of the DAF to encapsulate remaining oil and light solids. Micro-bubbles are introduced to the DAF feed through a multiphase pump. The micro bubbles float to the surface with the oil and contaminants and the reject sludge is recycled to the decanter feed line for further processing.
Media Filter & AFM - Any remaining oil and contaminants in the water
from the DAF unit are removed by the Activated Filter Media (AFM).
Analysis and Discharge - The treated water is constantly monitored by the ultrasonic Oil in Water monitor which accurately measures oil content and particle size. If the discharge limit is met the treated water is discharged to the sea.
Over the course of 5 years one of our North Sea customers improved their Total Cost of Operation, Environmental Compliance, Carbon Emissions and bottom line. This was through the deployment of the ADVANTAGE slops processing unit and in most cases only required 1 person to run the equipment.
