Good Reasons to do it online this year and postpone Las Vegas to 2022

At the start of this year, we did not know the course of the pandemic. Originally, we had hoped to provide a hybrid conference. After much deliberation and receiving considerable feedback from our members, the Board has decided that the safest option is to provide another fully virtual conference this year. This conference will look a little different than conferences in the past. This conference will include familiar components such as our Research Day and Members' Meeting, and new to this year, a Town Hall style meeting to gather your feedback. The break-out sessions will be different. We hope to co-construct the bulk of the program and have workshops that are more organic and less structured regarding content. We hope to provide an experience for members that more closely approximates the conversations had by the BFTC founders when discussing this model and its application. Attendees will be encouraged to share their ideas regarding what topics they'd like to discuss related to SFBT and subsequently we'll create breakout rooms that align with these hopes. The sessions will have moderators to help facilitate the specific conversations that our members would like to participate in. We hope that this model will bring further equity and inclusivity to our association and allow us to break down the hierarchy of expert and novice with a conference approach that further celebrates the principles and heart of SFBT.

We had a number of exciting submissions for our original hybrid 2021 conference in Las Vegas. We would encourage all of those presenters to bring those great topics to our virtual conference to be included in the breakout conversations. Please note the new format, however. There will be no formal presentations or power point workshops.
